With 35 years post apprenticeship experience, Eur Ing Dave Godfrey C. Eng., C.E.W.E., F. Weld. Inst. offers a high quality consultancy service to industrial sectors including oil and gas, power, nuclear, defence, shipbuilding and fabrication. Working from your factory or office, on site, offshore or overseas, Dave has the experience and knowledge to provide efficient, cost effective solutions to most fabrication, materials and welding related problems. Dave has provided consultancy services to all sizes of organisations, ranging from small family owned fabricators through to large multi-national oil and gas contractors, nuclear builders and operators, Ministry of Defence and defence contractors. Dave began his career as an apprentice welder in the construction industry in 1974 and worked as a coded pipe welder before moving into Inspection and NDT, and then on to role of Welding Engineer, gaining CSWIP Welding Inspector in 1983, European Welding Technologist in 1991 and European Engineer, European Welding Engineer and Chartered Engineer in 2000. Dave spent several years in pressure vessel manufacture before joining ESAB Group (UK) Ltd as a Welding Engineer and then Welding Engineering Manager during which time he provided technical support to most industry sectors. From 2004 until 2014 he worked for TWI (formerly The Welding Institute) as Consultant Welding Engineer and Technology Fellow, the highest technical grade for TWI staff. Dave has had first hand involvement across a wide range of applications, from manufacture of steel lamp posts in Yorkshire, repair of nuclear plants in China and Canada, underwater (cofferdam) repair of offshore platforms in the North Sea and South China Sea, structural steelwork, pressure vessels and piping and general fabrications in carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steels and aluminium. He has conducted many audits to ISO 3834 (including under surveillance from UKAS and EWF representatives) and is a member of The Welding Institute's Membership committee and of BSI committee WEE36, and has represented the UK on CEN ISO TC44 SC10/11 committees. He was a member of the expert review panel which assessed the safety of the welding procedures and processes for the proposed nuclear newbuild program. |
A UKAS ISO 3834 accredited auditor, Dave can advise on gaining certification to ISO 3834 and EN 1090.
